REDWOOD EMPIRE FOOD BANK - Ending Hunger in Our Community
Please join Summit State Bank in supporting the Redwood Empire Food Bank, the largest hunger-relief organization in Sonoma County.
The REFB provides food to over 78,000 people every month in every neighborhood throughout Sonoma County, including working families, seniors, the disabled, homeless, temporarily unemployed and 31,000 children.
Through its own programs and a network of 147 charitable agencies, the REFB distributes food to pantries, emergency shelters, dining rooms, soup kitchens, childcare centers, youth programs, group homes, disaster relief agencies and programs for seniors and at-risk youth.
The REFB has the following goals to meet the increasing need for food:
- Distribute 13 million pounds of food - the equivalent of 27,000 meals every day.
- Provide over 5 million pounds of fresh produce to help ensure healthier lives.
- Provide over 92,000 meals to low-income children during the summer months when school is out.
For the 7th year in a row, the REFB has received the highest rating - Four Stars - from Charity Navigator, America's premier independent charity evaluator. The rating means that 96.5% of resources go directly to feeding the hungry.
