The Giving Campaign, “It’s a Wonderful Life in Sonoma County” Kicks Off Its Third Year

Santa Rosa, CA – (November 20, 2014) – For the third consecutive year, the “It’s a Wonderful Life in Sonoma County” giving campaign is launching November 24th, 2014.

Together with Costeaux French Bakery, Oliver’s Market, McLea’s Tire and Automotive Centers and original campaign creators Summit State Bank, they raised over $6,000 last year to help fulfill holiday requests for those less fortunate. Sponsors encourage Sonoma County to celebrate the holiday season by buying a jingle bell for $1 at any of their respective locations. All proceeds go to fund unfulfilled Secret Santa letters through the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County and KZST’s Secret Santa Program.

“We sell the jingle bell necklaces so everyone can afford to donate and wear a bell to show their support for our Sonoma County community. The Secret Santa program makes an incredible impact through both the Volunteer Center and KZST’s efforts, and we hope to blanket the County in bells to lend whatever additional support we can,” says Tom Duryea, President and CEO of Summit State Bank.

The Secret Santa Program helps ensure that Sonoma County kids, teens, adults, and seniors who would not otherwise have a holiday gift are able to enjoy and have hope during the holiday season. Secret Santa began filling the needs of individuals and families in 1990, with Brent Farris reading letters on air from those in need. In 2008, The Giving Tree program managed by The Volunteer Center, joined forces with Secret Santa and continues to place gift wishes for individuals on Red Heart Ornaments displayed on trees around the county. Through their united effort, and companies like Costeaux French Bakery, Oliver’s Markets, McLea’s Tire and Automotive Centers and Summit State Bank, they help provide a better way to meet the growing needs during the holidays.
